Why would an American president bow down to world leaders?   Why is it easy for politicians to stoke hatred for rich, fat-cat CEOs? And why do so many nations around the world hate America, the world’s lone superpower?  read more

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by budget fights, protests and natural disasters, take a few moments to refill your soul with some “Real Music” as recommended by Michael Prell:

3)  Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony, Eroica, Leonard Bernstein & the New York Philharmonic 1964
2)  Mumford & Sons:  Sigh No More
1)  Ralph Stanley:  Shine On

5 Talk Radio Giants
I listen to a lot of talk radio via Podcasts.  It turns everyday moments (like taking out the trash or waiting in line at airports) into learning opportunities.  Over the past weeks, since Underdogma was released, I have spoken on air with more than 70 talk radio hosts, and I have found them to be thoughtful, passionate and professional.  A lot of work goes into putting on a radio show each day, and it’s been great to meet so many wonderful hosts and producers.

I now have many new talk radio shows to add to my list of Podcasts.  For now, here are 5 life-enriching Podcasts that I paid for and/or subscribed to before the Underdogma media tour began (in alphabetical order):

The John Batchelor Show
Hugh Hewitt’s Hughniverse
Mark Levin Show Audio Rewind
Rush Limbaugh 24/7 Podcast
Dennis Prager Show - Pragertopia
BONUS (because it’s shorter): The Aaron Klein Show

Top 5 Favorite Contemporary Writers
5)  David Mamet: I had the great pleasure of seeing Mamet's latest play "Race" while it was in previews, and now you can order it on paper from Amazon.com
4)  Newt Gingrich, especially for "Rediscovering God in America."
3)  John Batchelor.  You may know him as the brilliant nationally-syndicated talk radio host, but John is also an accomplished fiction and non-fiction author of "American Falls," "Ain't You Glad You Joined the Republicans" and many others.
2)  Dave Jeffers: a Biblical scholar, a prolific writer, a great American, and now a friend.  Read him daily at www.saltandlightblog.com.
1)  Mark Steyn: one of the few writers who is just as brilliant in person as he is on the page.

Top 5 Picks For Best Movie Of The Year
5)  The Lottery:  a brilliant movie about charter schools; like "Waiting for Superman" but it came out first.
4)  Scott Pilgrim VS the World:  unbridled creativity.
3)  How to Train Your Dragon:   the perfect movie for kids and parents, and the most brilliant example of the late Blake Snyder's screenplay theory in action.  This was one of his last projects, and he was given tribute in the credits.
2)  True Grit:  a modern Western classic.
1)  Toy Stoy 3:  one of the most perfectly-crafted movies I have ever seen.

Top 5 Christmas Gifts

5) When I want to unwind, nothing does the trick like a Travis McGee novel by John D. MacDonald.  And I just found out that they’re making a movie out of the first of these 21 wonderful books starring Leonardo Dicaprio.
4) Underdogma by Michael Prell.  Heck, you can even win a free copy by signing up for the { Underdogma Insider }.
3) My biggest (non) guilty pleasure: “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” available for download on iTunes.
2) I was honored to have dinner with one of my favorite writers this month-Mark Steyn.  I hear he has some health issues right now, so please say a prayer for him, and then brighten up your Christmas with Mark Steyn’s Christmas Classic “A Marshmallow World.”
1) An American treasure, and someone who adds a tremendous amount of value and joy to my life, is radio host John Batchelor.  Almost everything in WikiLeaks appeared on the John Batchelor show weeks or months ago.  Keep yourself ahead of the curve.  Listen to his free daily podcast.
